Menu icon Foundation
Foundation 6 and OFF-CANVAS

So last night I had some "spare time" on my hands and decided to upgrade from Foundation 5 to Foundation 6.

I ...

... downloaded the "Kitchen Sink"
... manually cleaned out the old and installed the new files.
... adjusted the CSS and JS links
... spent some time fixing the things that broke (mainly the off-canvas)

So everything is essentially working as it was with all of the benefits of Foundation 6 - smaller code, faster, combined items (like the old PANEL class now part of CALLOUT) ... EXCEPT ... for one little thing ...

... off-canvas overlaying the screen rather than pushing in from left or right.

Can this be achieved with Foundation 6 OFF-CANVAS or only with Foundation 5?

Help appreciated,
D

We haven't added this as a feature in off-canvas since this is easier achieved other ways. We may add it back in, but wanted to go as bare bones as possible.

Here's an example of what i'm talking about

Brandon,

We have a requirement for an overlay too, no pushing of content. I'm new to Foundation and might be missing something, but the solution you've provided at http://codepen.io/zurbrandon/pen/iqEvy doesn't seem easier to me than the typical Foundation configuration options I've encountered so far. I think adding this feature back would probably make a lot of people happy. As far as I can tell it hasn't been added back, but I'm still learning.

Thank you.

It looks like Zurb will be releasing a completely reworked Off-canvas component on December 15, 2016 as part of their v6.3.0 release. It's scheduled to have the content overlap feature, in addition to content push, as discussed in this thread. Great job guys. Thank you very much.

The new Off-canvas container was released today as part of v6.3.0. It seems to have everything:

Thank you to Brett Mason and the folks at Zurb for providing this Off-canvas container update.
