Yeti 920

There are so many amazing things happening in Foundation land to be excited about! Last time on the blog, we told you about the slimmed down codebase in Foundation for Sites 6. A new framework doesn't mean Foundation 5 doesn’t get any love, which just today got a big update. We're excited to tell you about our latest release of Foundation for Sites — version 5.5.3.

What’s New In 5.5.3

  • Locked Modernizr to version 2 (2.8.3) avoiding any breaking changes with newer versions.

  • Off-canvas can now open from top and bottom as well as left and right - Thanks to Thomas Salah

  • Accordion gets publicly accessible open, close, toggle methods - Thanks to Paul Edwards

  • Improved Tooltip performance - Thanks to Kristofer Krause

  • Range Slider can now be moved by tapping/clicking the bar - Thanks to Burtchen

  • Easier override of button background colors - Thanks to Joel Worsham

  • Improved dropdown performance - Thanks to Kristofer Krause

  • Improved transition mixin - Thanks to Some Web Media

  • Abide has more options

  • Equalizer works on hidden elements - Thanks to José Tomás Albornoz

  • Tabs have improved keyboard accessibility - Thanks to Marius

And tons more! If you love digging into the details, all 283 of them, they are here.

Millions of designer and developers are committed to Foundation and we want to support them with Foundation 5 to build and maintain their their projects. It’s reasonable to say that we’ll want to release a patch or two after 6 is out to make sure that people can happily continue using Foundation 5 for years to come if they can’t update to 6. So just know that your Pull Requests are really valuable to those designers and developers who continue on with it.
