do you use only rems?

I have been thinking the rem-calc needs to extend its functionality. em's are being used by a lot of sass plugins that tap into modular scale. They actually prefer the em's compounding effect. There should be a way to calculate ems as well in core. And even with the existing rem-calc, I want to be able to do the following.

I was just wondering if its just me or other people feel the need too

There are cases where this compounding effect (I am refraining from calling it an issue from now on) is desired. There are a lot of sass tools that use modular ratios for typography which rely on ems and work exceedingly well with ems.

Having em-calc and rem-calc might lead to confusion and require renaming, which I am against. I do think a lot of people want em's back though.

I would also like to be able to specify ems to take advantage of compounding. I just found that upgrade from 5.0 to 5.2 broke 'cos I had set default p tag to 1em. Now I have to write more css for each container where the compounding effect was used.

I think rems works well and have not encountered a conflict but I am sure they are out there. Is it possible to bring back the em-calc(xx) from previous foundations - but ems do give you the nested issues -http://css-tricks.com/why-ems/ and rems are (IE9+ hence why Foundation uses it)
