F5 for Sites: CMS Theme/Template workflow

So I'm using vagrant to build Jooma sites (https://github.com/joomlatools/joomla-vagrant) and thought it'd be cool to use Foundation to build templates for these sites. I came across https://github.com/thetemplateblog/JoomberUI as a possible contender but haven't been able to get a handle on how to implement this tool. The undocumented file structure is a bit of a mystery. Short of reaching out to the author, I'm wondering if anyone else has used Foundation to fashion CMS themes and if so, any workflow recommendations.

I came here exactly for this!

I'm not using Joomla Vagrant (though it is worth looking at!). I'm just running a plain Joomla 3.4.1 install in MAMP. I'm having a lot of trouble getting everything to work correctly.

After the install, from the scss directory, I tried running compass watch and it starts and says "Compass is watching for changes", but nothing happens and no scss is compiled. I've had this problem with Compass before with Foundation for WordPress and I haven't figured it out. Moving on...

I thought I would go the straight SCSS route, given the fact that Compass isn't cooperating. When I tried to run "scss --watch foundation.scss:foundation.css" I got the following error:

error foundation/_settings.scss (Line 13: File to import not found or unreadable: foundation/functions.
Load paths:
)

changing line 13 in _settings.scss to "../foundation/functions" cleared the error, but now when I run "scss --watch foundation.scss:foundation.css", it compiles changes, but to a new css file in the same directory called foundation.css. Of course this is no good.

Next I tried "scss --watch foundation.scss:../css/foundation.css". This works fine and compiles changes to the existing foundation.css file, but it overwrites everything that's already in the file instead of adding to it.

Bruce: How does this line up with what you've gone through so far? Can you shed any light?

If anyone has had any success getting this template to work, please share your knowledge! I'm going to keep working on it...
