Menu icon Foundation
IE issues

I know ie 8 and 9 isn't officially supported with foundation 5, but I've been trying to figure this out, I have viewed the site I'm creating in ie 8 and 9 and the off canvas menu doesn't hide, also another issue I have is the orbit slider doesn't work and is static.

I have tried the meta tags in the head and they don't seen to help the issue

If anyone can help it would be very appreciated.

It is likely the JavaScript that is not working in those browsers. This is any issue with any kind of JS, and those components rely on JS for some functions.

One of the big (and DUMB) reasons that the off-canvas features don’t work is because they only hide with css transforms, rather than with positioning and progressively enhanced to use transforms.

Transforms + transitions are more performant than positioning coordinates, but I feel it is irresponsible of the zurb team to deal with it this way (EDIT: without a fallback). If you view their own site in IE8, the whole site is permanently covered by their non-hidden non-off-canvas menu. it takes just a few lines of code and modernizr feature testing to progressively enhance or gracefully degrade this situation.

Sending a big “Screw you for using an old browser!” to your users is quite different then not bending over backwards to polish up the experience for them.

To be honest, I have tried since F4 to get Zurb interested in working out rasterizing mq’s for older browsers. It is simple as all get-out: http://jakearchibald.github.io/sass-ie/. I have used this method for sites for Verizon, F35, Denny’s and more and is far better than having JS parse and re-render your stylesheets.

IE9 is still officially supported, I think...

Hi, I've tried those in the page, but unfortunately it still doesn't work, it doesn't seem to be playing nice with loading foundation 3 in IE 8, I think I will try out another mobile menu and see how that goes.

I'd like to have a clarification since Rafi is not denying IE9 compatibility. Does F5 js and it's vendor js support IE9 or not? I am working on our ecommerce site, I don't want to get surprised in the future!
