Adding .align-middle to the .grid-x will not allow the flex children to stretch (be equal height). You can make the img height 100% like this https://codepen.io/rafibomb/pen/MMGBBzThe size of the image will determine the height of the grid.

6.5.3 was released at the end of January https://github.com/zurb/foundation-sites/releasesI have no indication that Foundation is going away. There are many conversations happening on the GitHub (1 example) repo about Foundation 7 plans. I gather that 7 is in a planning phase still and a few more releases of 6 are on the way to make it more of a gradual upgrade.

Sounds like it should work. Can you post a codepen example to help you more?

You should use a > selector to only affect the direct childrenExample: https://codepen.io/rafibomb/pen/wZyOxL

Using a <button> tag in a form is typically reserved for submitting a form. You might use prevent default in a normal situation. The easy fix is to use an <a> tag:https://codepen.io/rafibomb/pen/YBEZpQ

Alex - Really great solution! This may be good for you and other to add to your project if you need this kind of "functional" CSS. Thanks for posting it!Foundation needs to stay relatively lighter weight if possible and adding more grid classes may not be the way forward. I tend to not use alignment classes as much because it clutters up the HTML, sometimes is not contextual or descriptive, and requires others to learn more classes. That's just my opinion.
Having said that, you can certainly propose any feature on GitHub.

This is the right component? https://foundation.zurb.com/building-blocks/blocks/expand-column.html
You'll need to convert the old grid to the new grid.
So something like this:

The example may be using the older flex grid. You can change the classes to the XY grid and it should work the same.
